Amber Sky

Amber started dancing with Mary Sano in April 2007 and has been practicing the technique and choreography ever since. Amber is a member of Mary Sano and Her Duncan Dancers and has performed traditional Duncan choreography as well as Mary Sano’s original works in numerous salon concerts, namely The Dionysian Festival and The Terpsichorean Celebration at The Mary Sano Studio of Duncan Dancing in San Francisco from 2007-2017. Amber also has theatrical stage experience performing at the Cowell Theater & Novellus Theater in 2008 and The Brava Theater in 2010, as well as at the Central Market Arts Festival at the Mint Plaza in 2010 & 2012. She accompanied Mary Sano to Tokyo on her “Dancing Dreaming Isadora Solo Series 3” at Kumin Hall theater in 2012 and also performed with her in Paris at Le Regard du Cygne in 2014. Her favorite venue is inside SF’s City Hall where she danced as part of the Rotunda Dance Series in 2015. 

She has taken intensives in New York with Lori Beliove and Cherlyn Smith, and has taken master classes with Catherine Gallant and Amy Swanson.

Amber has trained over 2,000 hours with Mariane Karou- master teacher in the field of movement, somatic education and life training. She also holds a California State Teaching Credential in Physical Education & Dance and has taught over 8,000 hours in public schools, and has Forrest Yoga & Kid’s Yoga Certifications. Amber has a BA from Boston University in Visual Anthropology: Dance, Photography & Anthropology. Currently, Amber teaches dance, yoga and mindful movement to children in her hometown of Los Angeles.
